ZIEGLER delivers new Z6 to Kortrijk-Wevelgem International Airport

Almost one year after receiving the order (see ZIEGLER press release March 2021), ZIEGLER Group delivered a new Z6 Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Vehicle to Kortrijk-Wevelgem International Airport in Belgium on March 31st, 2022.

The Crashtender is built on a TITAN 6x6 chassis with steerable rear axle and is driven by a 770 HP Scania V8 engine. The innovative and continuously variable transmission by Kessler completes the new drive concept and actually brings this high performance to the road. This translates into unrivaled acceleration and top speed in this particular application.
In addition, the new vehicle provides up to 13,000 l of extinguishing water, 1,500 l of foam and 250 kg of extinguishing powder for concentrated extinguishing power in the airport. The FPN 10-8000 is precisely designed to supply the turrets (the newly developed ZT-6000 as a roof mounted turret), the rapid intervention unit and the self-protection system with extinguishing power. The Z-Cab Air is certified according ECE R 29-3 and therefore guarantees highest occupant protection. The vehicle will be controlled and operated via Z-Control of the latest generation according to the whole ZIEGLER line.

Furthermore, the order includes an All-In service contract of 10 years, which will be carried out by Ziegler Brandweertechniek B.V. The airport has also already made provisions for 2023: another order for a new Z6 will be placed in September of this year.

More information can be found in the official press release.
