ZIEGLER delivers first HLF-W 4×4 with forest fire package to safety region Noord-en Oost-Gelderland

This delivery is part of a contract for 75 firefighting vehicles of different types that was signed in September 2022. 16 HLF 4×2 have already been delivered and the remaining vehicles will be delivered in stages until 2026.

The vehicle that has now been handed over, an HLF-W, is based on a Volvo FMX 420 4×4 chassis. The spacious ZIEGLER crew cab Z-Cab XL with roof hatches ensures optimum operating conditions. A powerful LED light strip with 20,000 lumens at the front of the vehicle ensures optimum visibility during operations.

With a wheelbase of 4,300 mm and an extinguishing water tank with a capacity of 3,700 liters, the HLF-W offers a high operational capacity. The ZIEGLER FPN
10-3000-2H low-pressure pump ensures a reliable water supply. In addition, the vehicle has an ALCO APF 1DC 450 front turret with an output of up to 1,000 liters per minute and two roof turrets that can be controlled manually through the roof hatch.

The fire pump is driven by the PTO during normal operation and has a secondary hydraulic drive when used for pump and roll. Combined with the crawler gear from the Volvo i-Shift excellent performance is guaranteed.

The vehicle also has front spray nozzles, a hydraulically folding rear step for off-road driving and a pressure-reduced water outlet at the rear. A rapid intervention unit with 60 meters of hose and a capacity of 250 liters per minute at 6 bar ensures fast and efficient extinguishing measures.

With this new generation of firefighting, ZIEGLER is once again setting new standards in safety, functionality and performance. The Noord- en Oost-Gelderland safety region uses this modern technology to protect a population of over 870,000 people across 3,000 km².
