Successful delivery start of the 90 FLKfz HLF

In September 2021, ZIEGLER was awarded the contract for the delivery of a total of 90 firefighting vehicles (FLKfz HLF) to BwFuhrparkService GmbH. Due to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, as well as the resulting disruption to supply chains, the start of delivery had been delayed until April 2024. The vehicles are used by the German army at various locations throughout Germany and are operated by BWFuhrparkService GmbH and serviced in cooperation with ZIEGLER.

Built on a MAN TGM 18.320 4×4 chassis, the 320 HP vehicles are equipped with a 2,500 l water tank, a 150 l foam tank and the latest generation of ALPAS and Z-Control, among other things. Extensive testing of the first vehicles took place at the "NBC defense and legal protection tasks" school in Stetten a.k.M. Subsequently, selected members of the Bundeswehr were trained and instructed on the vehicles in order to learn how to handle the vehicles safely and to pass this knowledge on within the Bundeswehr.

The Bundeswehr's existing vehicle portfolio is now being expanded by additional ZIEGLER vehicles procured by BWFuhrpark-Service GmbH.

ZIEGLER fully met and in some cases even exceeded the high performance characteristics required in the tender. This means that the emergency services will have powerful vehicles at their disposal in the future, which will make a fundamental contribution to safety at the respective locations. The delivery of the other vehicles is now taking place according to the agreed delivery schedule and will be completed by February 2025.

“We are pleased about the professional cooperation with BwFuhrparkService GmbH and are proud to make an important contribution to the operational readiness and safety of the Bundeswehr” says Markus W. Weber, CSO of ZIEGLER Group.

Since 1950, a total of over 500 vehicles of various types have been produced by ZIEGLER, including Z8, Z6, forest fire and building fire vehicles, as well as scaffolding and multi-purpose vehicles.
