For over five decades, the name ZIEGLER has been synonymous with safety at airports around the world. It is not without reason that Airport Firefighting and Rescue Vehicles are considered the premier class of firefighting vehicles. Designing and manufacturing them requires special skills and extensive engineering expertise. ZIEGLER has both.
Operating profile
Z-Class vehicles are designed for typical airport situations: engine, landing gear and fuel fires; evacuation support; securing emergency landings and escort and standby services. High acceleration, precise control of the extinguishers and a cab designed for visibility support fast, accurate action – even in poor visibility or crosswinds.
Crew and ergonomics
The Z-Cab AiR was designed, developed and built with ergonomics and the requirements of Airport Firefighting and Rescue Vehicles in mind. The Z-Cab AiR is characterized by excellent all-round visibility, the highest standards of occupant safety, confirmed by crash testing in accordance with ECE R29-3 and the latest generation of the user-guided Z-Control operating concept. It can be configured to suit your requirements: with a pneumatic bus door or electric sliding windows.
Superstructure and storage space
The modular ALPAS design offers organized storage space for typical airport loads, from rapid intervention equipment to lighting and power supply to special modules. The shelving logic is customizable so that project- or authority-specific requirements can be integrated without disrupting the system. External control panels are logically grouped and well protected.
Extinguishing technology
The extinguishing technology is designed for rapid deployment and high throughput. Roof and front turrets (optionally remote-controlled) allow for the graduated discharge of water, foam and, depending on the configuration, powder or CO2. A precise proportioning system ensures reproducible foam concentrate concentrations. Hose management, rapid intervention and optional front extinguishing devices support the tactical spectrum from flooding to targeted “piercing.”
Safety and visibility
The cab has been crash tested; restraint systems and equipment fastenings secure the crew and equipment. Distinctive warning markings, ambient and equipment compartment lighting, and an optional light mast increase visibility at the scene of the emergency. A well-designed load distribution system improves driving stability, braking distance and tire wear.
Operating concept
The operating concept is clearly divided into three sections: driving, extinguishing technology and secondary functions. Central touch/hard keys with joystick operation in the armrests enable blind operation. Camera, IR and 360° views (depending on the model) increase situational awareness; optional turret remote control supports operations with restricted visibility.
