Member of the Bundestag visits ZIEGLER

Leni Breymaier - member of the Bundestag - visits ZIEGLER in Giengen

Following the invitation of the management of Albert Ziegler GmbH, the company welcomed Leni Breymaier, member of the Bundestag, at the headquarters of ZIEGLER Group in Giengen on October 26th, 2022.

After a general company presentation, ZIEGLER took the opportunity to point out the current problems in the industry: Material bottlenecks, rising energy and material costs, chip shortages and long delivery times as a result of these challenges are keeping the company busy.

For example, the delivery time for a chassis up to 2020 was approx. 4 - 6 months after the order was placed. Today, body manufacturers wait around 12 - 18 months for a chassis. Another critical point is the sharp rise in energy and material costs.

Albert Ziegler GmbH can still show a very high order volume, but the constantly changing purchase prices make a serious calculation almost impossible. This is reflected accordingly in today's deliveries: There is a clear gap between quotation calculation and result.

ZIEGLER has a strong backing in CIMC and was therefore able to withstand the last two challenging years well. However, from an economic point of view, this poses increasing problems with a view to the future. For this reason, the industry and the company are calling for the introduction of a so-called "price escalator clause" in all public invitations to tender in accordance with the specialist recommendation of the AGBF Bund in the German Association of Cities and Towns and the German Fire Brigades Association. This allows the suppliers to charge the additional costs if costs continue to rise sharply. Of course, this also applies the other way around if prices fall. As a standard, transparent basis for this, the values from the Federal Statistical Office are used.
Leni Breymaier understands the problem wants to stand up for the firefighting industry so that healthy companies do not get into difficulties due to strongly increasing prices and long delivery times.
A walk through the production plant rounded off the visit, where Ms. Breymaier was able to see the current situation for firsthand.

„We are very pleased that Ms. Breymaier took time to come and listen to us. We all know what challenging times we are currently living in. Of course, the topics discussed today do not only affect us as ZIEGLER, but almost all companies in our industry. A personal discussion at our plant was therefore very important to us. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Breymaier for listening to us and we are looking forward to her representing our interests in the future“

says Hans Mayr, Sales Manager Vehicles South Germany, Albert Ziegler GmbH.
