Albert Ziegler GmbH is strengthening the operational capabilities of the fire department of Giengen with two new HLF 10. The handover of the two new firefighting vehicles (HLF 10) took place at ZIEGLER on December 5th, 2025. One of the vehicles will be stationed at the Giengen fire station, the other in the Burgberg district. Both vehicles feature state-of-the-art ZIEGLER technology – developed and manufactured at the company's headquarters in Giengen an der Brenz.

A special day for ZIEGLER

The handover took place directly on the ZIEGLER factory premises in Giengen. Among the guests was Mayor Dieter Henle, who emphasized the special connection between the city and the company: “ZIEGLER and Giengen – that simply belongs together: Today, our fire department is receiving two first-class vehicles that were developed and manufactured in our city. We are particularly pleased about this.“

Innovation for the hometown

The handover was also an emotional moment for ZIEGLER. After all, the heart of the company has been beating in Giengen for over 130 years.
“It's something very special when vehicles manufactured by us will be used here in our town in the future“, says Daniel Martin, project manager at ZIEGLER. “It shows how deeply rooted we are in Giengen – and how connected we feel to the region and its people“

ZIEGLER already handed over a logistics equipment vehicle (GW-L1) to the Giengen fire department in 2020. With the two new HLF 10, this successful partnership is being continued – and the fire department's operational capabilities further strengthened.

Versatile operational capability

The rescue firefighting vehicle (HLF 10) is one of the most important emergency vehicles in modern firefighting. It is equally suited to firefighting operations and technical rescue operations – for example, in the event of traffic accidents, storms, or rescue operations. With its extensive equipment, it can accommodate a complete team of nine firefighters and is therefore equipped for almost any emergency situation.

Both vehicles are based on a Mercedes-Benz Atego 1630 4×2 chassis with twin tires, 220 kW (299 HP) engine power, and a wheelbase of 3,860 mm. With a gross vehicle weight of 14 tons and compact dimensions of 7,300 × 2,500 × 3,300 mm (L×W×H), the vehicles offer optimum maneuverability combined with high performance.
The Z-Cab offers space for a crew of 1 + 8 firefighters and is certified according to UN ECE R 29 – for maximum safety of the emergency services. The body is based on the proven latest-generation ALPAS system, which impresses with its high stability, durability, and weight optimization.

Firefighting is handled by the powerful Z-Pump 10-2000-1H centrifugal fire pump, which delivers up to 2,000 liters of water per minute. The 1,600-liter water tank with drinking water protection guarantees sufficient reserves for any operational situation. The entire vehicle is controlled via the innovative latest-generation Z-Control operating concept, which enables intuitive and safe handling of all vehicle functions.
